Safety & the law

Built for the era of youth online-safety law

Regulators everywhere are asking the same question: how do you protect kids online without surveilling them? Your Voice answers it with cryptography — parental consent you can verify forever, and age assurance that never collects a birthday, an ID, or a face.

Consent is a signature, not a checkbox

Every Your Voice account is created by a family, together, on their own devices. Here is the actual ceremony — live in production today.

Device 1 · Parent

The parent starts the family

On their own phone, the parent creates their identity and a family code. When their teen asks to join, the approval appears on the parent's screen — and approving means signing a consent record with a key that exists only on that phone.

Device 2 · Teen

The teen proves their age privately

The teen enters their birthday on their own phone — and it stays there. The app turns it into a cryptographic commitment on the device. Our servers receive the commitment, never the date.

Device 3 · Trusted adult (optional)

A second adult can co-sign

A grandparent, co-parent, or guardian can add their own signature from their own phone — an extra layer of family oversight, cryptographically attached to the teen's account.

Engineered for what the law asks

We don't bolt compliance on afterward. The requirements below are properties of the architecture itself.

Verifiable parental consent · COPPA

Consent that can be proven, forever

U.S. law requires verifiable parental consent before collecting information from children. Most platforms use an email link or a checkbox.

On Your Voice, consent is an Ed25519 signature over a timestamped consent record, made with the parent's own device-held key — mathematically verifiable for the life of the account.
Age assurance · state age-verification laws

Age checks without ID scans or face scans

A growing number of states require platforms to verify user ages — and the common answers (ID uploads, biometric estimation) create their own privacy dangers.

Your Voice uses a parent-attested cryptographic age commitment, generated on the teen's device. Age group is provable; the birthdate itself is never collected — designed for zero-knowledge age proofs.
Data minimization · GDPR & children's data rules

You can't leak what you never collect

Children's-data regulations worldwide demand data minimization and privacy by design and by default.

A Your Voice account is a public key. No email, no phone number, no birthdate, no real name required. Our servers hold cryptographic material and content — not a dossier on your child.
Duty of care · youth safety-by-design rules

Safe by default, not by settings

Emerging duty-of-care frameworks ask platforms to prevent harm by design, not to offer opt-in protections buried in menus.

On Your Voice the protections are the platform: strangers cannot message minors, every post passes safety screening before it publishes, and crisis-support outreach is built in — always on, for every account.

What that looks like in the product

Seven layers of protection, on for every account from the first second.

🛡️

Gateway screening

Every post and message passes through a multi-layer safety gateway before it reaches anyone.

🔒

No stranger DMs — ever

Unknown accounts cannot message a minor. Not a setting. A rule of the platform.

💙

Beacon crisis support

Signals of distress are met with real support resources, 24/7 — including during livestreams.

📈

Shield truth scoring

Content carries a visible credibility score, teaching media literacy inside the feed.

👨‍👩‍👧

Parents Portal

Parents sign in with their own key to oversee safety — without reading their teen's private words.

🎓

Graduation at 18

At 18, the account — posts, reputation, voice — graduates to the adult platform. Nothing is lost.

Verified, not just promised

Every claim on this page describes a property we test against the live platform. Our engineering rule is simple: implemented is not verified — behavior is the only evidence that counts.

It takes a family about five minutes — each of you on your own phone.
